The trek is considered moderate to challenging due to steep ascents and descents, especially on the way to and from the Apurímac Canyon. However, the shortest 30 km route via Quinualla makes it more accessible than the classic trail.

This itinerary covers approximately 30 kilometers, making it the shortest and easiest route to reach Choquequirao.

Horses carry the camping equipment and your duffel bag, so you only need a daypack with essentials such as water, sunscreen, a jacket, and snacks.

The best months are April to November, during the dry season, when weather conditions are more stable. The trek is available year-round, but expect rain from December to March
